Dr. Rose Rao, an emergency medicine-trained surgeon observed  the progress made with the on-going Family and Emergency Medicine post graduate program. She was impressed by the infrastructure and expertise within the institution and commended the great work that was on going. She had an opportunity to join the on going ward round with the consultants and residents where she gave valuable clinical contributions from an emergency clinician’s perspective. SCH SIGNS MOU WITH SIAYA COUNTY GOVERNMENT

On Thursday 16th October 2014,  Sagam Community Hospital added another milestone towards improving healthcare in Siaya County with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the County Government of Siaya. The signing ceremony was conducted in Siaya at the Offices of County Director of Health by County Executive Member for Health, Dr Edward Owila, and the MOU was signed on behalf of SCH by the Chairman of the Board of SCH, Mr. Nelson Rogo. In addition, Dr. Walter Obita, the General Manager of SCH, Dr. Omondi Owino, the County Director of Health in Siaya County, Dr. George Midiwo, the Chief Officer for Health in Siaya County, Mr. Benson Otieno, the Executive Officer of SCH and Dr. Paula Roy-Burman, the Internal Medicine Consultant from MGH. The MOU will work towards the following areas of interest:- 1. Helping in the provision of quality health care in Siaya County. 2. Training of medical personnel (including but not limited to post graduate doctors, interns and nurses) under a collaborative Continuous Medical Education initiative. 3. Improvement of the County’s institutional health referral system to allow for the mutual follow- up of patients, access to consultant experts and provision of specialist services. 4. Implementation of a coordinated health outreach initiative. 5. Promotion of research within Siaya County through collaboration in finding and sharing innovative health solutions. 6. Promotion of any other Public- Private Partnership efforts that will improve access to quality health services in Siaya County....
