On Monday September 1st, 2014, Sagam Community Hospital hosted the Kenya Medical Practitioners & Dentists Board.

The Board was conducting an inspection of the hospital for approval as a training institution for post-graduate training in Family and Emergency Medicine (MMed). The Board (led by its Chairman, Professor George Magoha, the CEO, Mr. Daniel Yumbya, and 2 members (Professor Barasa Khwa Otsyula and Professor Zipporah Kitonyi)) were highly complimentary of the current systems and on-going facility upgrades. In addition, the Board advised SCH to apply for accreditation as an internship training facility.

SCH was represented by its founder, Dr. Khama Rogo, its General Manager, Dr. Walter Obita and SCH Board Member, Mr. Deryck Onyango Omuodo. In addition, the team was accompanied by the Dean of Maseno University’s School of Medicine, Professor Wilson Odero, the Head of Family Medicine at Maseno University, Dr. Kaguthi and faculty from Maseno University.


The Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board is a statutory authority established under Cap 253 Laws of Kenya to regulate the practice of medicine and dentistry in the country.
