Agatha Christie Obare holds a Cambridge School certificate from Mukumu girls High School and has had various management courses in banking and management locally and in the UK. She has vast experience in the banking sector where she has worked in Barclays bank between 1978 and 1993 rising through the ranks from manager’s assistant at Kenyatta Avenue branch to branch managers of Pioneer House branch, Hurlingham branch and Union Towers branch – all in Nairobi. Currently Mrs. Obare is engaged in many community activities in various capacities. She is the chair lady of Rabuor Sinaga Area Community Small Business Enterprise (micro-finance), chair lady Ahono Primary School, committee member St. Teresa’s Primary School (Yala) and member of Yaw Pach Women’s Group (Yala). She is also a founder member of Kenya Women Finance Trust and served as treasurer of the Kenya Society of the Deaf between 1986 – 1994. She was founder and former chairwoman of the board of the Rabuor-Sinaga Fund.
