There was high drama on Friday, September 5, 2014 as a fully-equipped container (acquired from IMEC) arrived in Sagam. The container will be used for consultant clinics and as a training facility for the hospital’s post-graduate medical training programme for Family and Emergency Medicine that is launching on Monday, September 15, 2014.
The container, which departed from the Kenyan capital on the evening of Thursday, September 4, 2014, arrived at around 11 am. Its arrival and offloading at the hospital caused a lot excitement in Sagam as it took several hours for a crane to deposit the container in its final position on the hospital grounds. As the pictures show, the crane and the truck carrying the container blocked the Luanda-Siaya “highway” and caused traffic delays as well as attracting on-lookers in the area.
MGH and SCH staff have been busy adding all of the necessary furniture and medical equipment to the container and its exterior even got a new coat of white and blue paint today.
