Sagam Community Hospital, in partnership with Maseno University, the African Institute for Health Transformation (AIHT), and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), welcomed the third cohort of Family Medicine residents on Thursday, 13 October 2016. The new residents include: Dr. Leena Shiramba, Dr. Carolyne Rono and Dr. Arnold Moseti Nyambane.
The residency program, initiated in September 2014, trains talented and experienced medical officers in the fields of Family and Emergency Medicine. By the end of the program, these physicians should have the skills necessary to manage a host of medical conditions in a variety of settings. See here for more information on SCH’s post-graduate training program.
The orientation for this year’s cohort took place at Maseno University and SCH. Dr. Owiti, Dr. Oyoko (representing Dr. Ouma), Dr. Ng’wena (SOM Chair, Postgraduate Committee), and Ms. Debora Rogo provided students with an overview of the program, and encouraged students to take advantage of the numerous clinical and research opportunities available at both SCH and Maseno University.
We welcome the new group of residents, and hope that their time at SCH and Maseno University will be a rewarding and fulfilling one.
